tatu metsätähti and tatu peltonen formed their electro duo mr velcro fastener in the small town of turku, finland back in 1995. in 1999, after a couple of twelve inches, they released their first full length album ‘lucky bastards living up north’ on i220, which was well noted (not only for its hyper colourful cover art by the designers republic). the album took the duo touring in europe and overseas, and led to further releases on labels like stars-music, ali b’s air recordings, solina records, cyber dance and of course billy nasty’s electrix, as well as remixes for the likes of hardfloor, marco carola, dk8, transparent sound and aux88. returning to electrix with their third full ep for the label (and a gap of 13 years!) they have delivered their own unique and recognizable electro sound with two new cuts. ‘a monster in two worlds’ with its electro-funk sound, classic vocoded vocals and grinding groove is a perfect opener, while ‘bakteriofag’ (bacteriophage in english) like its name, creeps up like a virus, infecting the senses with its crisp and shining melody. additionally, there’s remixes of ‘a monster in two worlds’ from silicon scally (carl finlow in his electro guise) and m-twelve (the new moniker recently launched by billy nasty and surface’s nick dunton) to complete the line-up.

dsordne (pronounced disordine) is a project from torino, italy that evolved as group out of the electronic experimental post punk project novostj in 1987. at the core of dsordne is marco milanesio, musical engineer and co-founder of the hax record label, joined by a revolving cast of musicians. their spectrum ranged from experimental to structured electro-poetry and soundtrack like instrumental electronic music. in 1987 they released their first track on a split-single with the legendary pink dots. between 1987 and 1994 they released 6 full length albums, 3 split-eps and appeared on various cassette compilations.

bienvenue beton! a brand-new act making his mark straight out of the block. little is known about him besides the fact hes from belgium, hes clearly a graduate of the hardfloor school of knocks, hes invested in some serious analogue gear and he knows his way around a kick-ass groove! his latest project sees the launch of his own label trek u plan, which will also have a vinyl imprint. the debut release is the double header balloon/juegd already picking up major support from francois k, catz & dogz, phil kieran, slam, marco carola, psychatron to name a few. balloon is raw rumbling techno hybrid with the backbone a dark thundering drum and sharp pummelling hi hats. jeugd is a collaboration between beton & fellow belgian stealdrum, who introduce flanger madness that transitions into a warm stabbing synth, giving the track it s funk. it is rooted in classic ideas yet updated with the mind on present. for the remix of jeugd, schmutz delivers a uncompromising belter reminiscent of the i love techno days with the likes of dj rush and dave clarke. using one of the long synths in jeugd it creates a tension throughout that, together with frantic drums, give the track immense drive. beton recently presented his debut release on pets records, immediately getting support from carl cox, eats everything, paul ritch, huxley, anja schnieder, yousef, sidney charles, sante and many more. showcasing his raw sound, with straight to the floor slabs of gritty technoid machine funk, bruxelles paid homage to the citys visceral new beat and ebm roots but with contemporary muscle and a titanium jacking groove almost wink-like hypnosis to the acid as it stripped back. voice 64 continued this theme of stark leftfield savagery, once again another physical, concentrated piece of frank, honest techno. pressed on black vinyl in a hand stamped sleeve. early support from francois k, marco carola, audio injection, davide squillace, sasha carassi, slam, luigi madonna

hell yeah s next vinyl ep is a first solo release since 2012 from the vendetta suite aka belfasts gary irwin. it features six tracks all handpicked by label boss marco from vast unreleased vaults that have already been played by david holmes and andrew weatherall, and it comes with a great backstory

as proprietors of the will & ink label, yaleesa hall & malin genie have been maintaining a busy and consistent release schedule of top notch techno sounds, largely releasing their own, well received, productions. the duo appeared on hypercolours 10 years compilation in 2016 with the excellent buchan trap, and weve been blessed to secure a full single release with the on-point pair. the mechanical funk of artin swings with plenty of assured groove, the shuffling hats, dense kicks and dubby stabs that ping pong across this fierce production mark this out as a real killer cut. dario & marco zenker, aka the zenker brothers, take time out from their busy ilian tape operations to remix artin into a brutal yet funky techno goliath. congas perpetually roll forward, with frenetic 909 hats and raw and ready stabs in what may well be one of the zenkers finest remixes to date. the essence of funk continues in hall & malins music, with cahen, a great slab of compelling techno that never slips too far into darkness, instead keeping an ever evolving groove and some abstract drone like synthesis to keep the mood buoyant. wrapping up the release is brown, a track that finishes as urgently as it starts, perhaps with a cap doffed to the purpose maker sounds of a certain jeff mills, but broadening the palette to allow some trippy sound architecture and an effective breakdown mid way through. modern day techno supplied by a duo that will most certainly flourish over the coming months, yaleesa hall & malin deliver the goods aplomb on this hypercolour single.

nice price deal !!! for release number six marco faraone and norman methner welcome branko stojanov to the u&#1048,,cag&#926,, family. top and tailing the ep with his two originals branko opens with >oprosti<. a melodic number featuring a floating chord over a sharp beat. this is followed by the first of two remixes of >kao staklo<. darren roberts aka deepbass rolls out one of his trademark reworks with a deep and trippy seven-minute opus. the b side opens with swedish mastermind skudge who delivered a groovy and psychedelic minimal remix of >kao staklo<. before we re finally introduced to the original title track with its misty atmospheres and melancholic grooves. a rock solid first release.

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.
